L Brackets

A good friend of mine and accomplished photographer and videographer, Kirk Norbury, recently led me towards one of my all time favourite bits of kit, the L Bracket. There are a huge amount of options for these wonderful accessories out there and in all price ranges from just a few pounds to several hundred! All the main retailers such as Wex Photographic stock them but I found mine on Ebay. Having seen Kirk use his L bracket on a recent trip to the Isle of Harris I was immediately impressed by how much this simple piece of machined metal can aid a photographer in the field. The ability to instantly switch from landscape to portrait mode without upsetting the original framing of the image is absolutely priceless and a 'model specific' bracket will afford full access to battery housing and of course all the plug in options. My Sunwayfoto bracket for the Canon 5d III, which I have to say I find to be superb, came in at under £50 and I would not now be without it.
